It is held that children born in such years are granted by the gods. For this very reason, however, they do not always have the wish or the possibility to continue the family line. They prefer to develop themselves, to travel and to explore the world.

In their most recent past lives they were most likely born in the divine realms. If so, they will have a mark in the area of the belly or below the waist, as a sign that in the past they indulged abundantly in sensual pleasures. A birthmark may also be found on the right arm — in that case they may have been deities connected with the activity of the Buddhas. If birthmarks on the right arm are absent, such a person may be left-handed.

Обычно такие люди обладают сильным характером и повышенной удачей. Чтобы обрести счастье в семейной жизни, им полезно сменить место жительства. Крайне нежелательно жить вместе с родителями, а также в окружении беспорядка.

Usually such people have a strong character and heightened fortune. To find happiness in family life it is useful for them to change their place of residence. Living together with parents is highly undesirable, as is living surrounded by disorder.

В случае неудовлетворённости своей личной жизнью они могут поспешить и найти те отношения, которые в итоге им навредят, поэтому лучше всего представителям данной Мева дождаться человека с аналогичной божественной кармой, а это произойдёт только в нужный момент.

If they are dissatisfied with their personal life they may act in haste and find a relationship that will ultimately harm them; it is therefore best for representatives of this Mewa to wait for a person with the same divine karma, and this will happen only at the right moment.

Если кто-то из их предков жил неправильной жизнью, то он мог растерять энергию семейного благополучия (янг), что теперь может привести к увяданию семейной линии, болезням среди потомков, повышенной нервозности, депрессии и длительным периодам неудачи. If one of their ancestors lived a wrong life, he may have squandered the energy of family well-being (yang), which may now lead to the withering of the family line, illnesses among the descendants, heightened nervousness, depression and long periods of misfortune. It is usually considered that the second half of life of representatives of this Mewa is happier than the first.

В отношении здоровья им следует избегать поведения и употребления продуктов, усиливающих ветер или вату (одна из трёх дош в тибетской медицине и аюрведе), иначе вероятны проблемы с суставами, ослабление зрения, заболевания сердца и нервной системы.

As regards health, they should avoid conduct and foods that increase wind, or vata (one of the three doshas in Tibetan medicine and Ayurveda), otherwise problems with the joints, weakening of eyesight and diseases of the heart and the nervous system are likely.

Negative emotions on the mother’s side can damage their fortune and health still more strongly, and therefore it is very important for the relatives of such people to keep a positive state of mind and not to give in to disturbing tendencies of mind. It is important that there be no conflicts or ill-wishing atmosphere in the family. A sign of such problems may be the division or loss of the parents’ property. A great deal of tension and negative emotion can weaken their protective energies and, as a consequence, lead to the loss of fortune.

Также они могут переродиться в измерении Нагов (змееподобных охранителей природных источников), так как имеют крайне тесную кармическую связь с ними. По этой же причине представителям данной Мева важно жить в чистоте, так как духи класса Нагов, часто сопровождающие и оберегающие таких людей, не любят грязь.

If they are excessively taken with sensual pleasures instead of personal and spiritual development, such people may be born in the body of an animal in the next life. Excessive attachment to money or jewellery may lead them to rebirth as a yaksha — a spirit dwelling in places where valuable objects are gathered. They may also be reborn in the dimension of the Nagas (serpent-like protectors of natural springs), since they have an extremely close karmic connection with them. For this same reason it is important for representatives of this Mewa to live in cleanliness, since the spirits of the Naga class, who often accompany and protect such people, do not like dirt.

В качестве метода коррекции им крайне полезно регулярно выполнять Пуджи Нагам и заботиться об окружающей среде, так как Наги могут страдать и ослабевать в загрязнённых регионах. Если же представитель Мева 1 Белая построит статую Авалокитешвары, то тогда в следующей жизни он может вновь родиться в мире богов. Также он может переродиться священнослужителем или представителем богатой и влиятельной семьи.

As a method of correction it is extremely useful for them to perform Naga Pujas regularly and to care for the environment, since Nagas can suffer and weaken in polluted regions. And if a representative of Mewa 1 White builds a statue of Avalokiteshvara, then in the next life he may again be born in the world of gods. He may also be reborn as a priest or as a member of a wealthy and influential family.

К злым духам, провоцирующим людей этого года рождения, относятся Гьялпо, обитающие в местах скопления людей, увлечённых сильной религиозной или политической идеей, и Гонпо, вызывающие эмоциональные перепады и сильные депрессии. Следствием провокации Гьялпо могут стать излишние фанатичность, озлобленность, а также конфликтные и травматичные ситуации. Гонпо же способны вызвать серьёзные эмоциональные проблемы, тяжело поддающиеся лечению. Among the malevolent spirits that provoke people born in this year are the Gyalpo, who dwell in places where people gripped by a strong religious or political idea gather, and the Gongpo, who cause emotional swings and severe depressions. The consequences of Gyalpo provocation may be excessive fanaticism, embitterment, as well as conflictual and traumatic situations. The Gongpo are able to cause serious emotional problems that are difficult to treat. People born in this year should also be more careful about visiting cemeteries, funerals and weddings, especially if these are accompanied by the drinking of alcohol.

Отсюда и название данной Мева — Зеркало Сновидений, так как им всегда важно находиться в максимально осознанном состоянии. Духовная практика, а также поддержка крупных религиозных или иных социальных структур способны продлить и улучшить их жизнь.

They are categorically forbidden to use alcohol or other intoxicants — otherwise a bad destiny awaits them. Hence the name of this Mewa, the Mirror of Dreams, since it is always important for them to remain in the most conscious state possible. Spiritual practice, as well as the support of large religious or other social structures, can lengthen and improve their life.

Любые действия, связанные с опасностью — противопоказаны, так как большой процент людей, рождённых в такие годы, уходит преждевременно.

Any activity connected with danger is contraindicated, since a large proportion of the people born in such years depart prematurely.

В прошлых жизнях они с большой вероятностью были духами класса Дуд или Ноджином (Якшей). Подтверждением этого служит родинка, пучок волос или иная отметина на левом боку. Если такой человек всерьёз входит в практику — буддийскую или бонскую, — он обретает большую магическую силу быстрее других, и это следует использовать осторожно: нанесённый ими магический вред в итоге вернётся к ним многократно. То же касается и соблюдения других религиозных обетов. Этим людям очень важно всегда поступать правильно и по совести.

In past lives they were most likely spirits of the Dü class or Nöjin (yakshas). Confirmation of this is a mole, a tuft of hair or another mark on the left side of the body. If such a person seriously enters practice — Buddhist or Bönpo — he obtains great magical power faster than others, and this should be used with care: magical harm inflicted by them will in the end return to them many times over. The same applies to the keeping of other religious vows. It is very important for these people always to act rightly and according to conscience.

In childhood they are in danger of being abandoned by their parents — physically or emotionally; in the family there may well be alcohol abuse and premature deaths — and if this is confirmed, it means that their chart contains large problems connected with curses from the past.

One of the ancestors may have committed very great misdeeds, because of which the following generations are subjected to suffering. The method of correction is the performance of rituals for the dead: the Purification of the Six Realms, Shitro, the White Feast (or Tarpanam in the Indian tradition).

В отношении здоровья им следует оберегать почки, мочевой пузырь, кости и слух, избегать переохлаждения и всего, что усиливает капху (слизь) — холодной, тяжёлой и несвежей пищи, избытка сладкого, малоподвижности. Алкоголь у представителей этой Мева особенно быстро разрушает защитные энергии и открывает дорогу провокациям злых духов.

As regards health, they should protect the kidneys, the bladder, the bones and the hearing, avoid chilling and everything that increases kapha (phlegm) — cold, heavy and stale food, an excess of sweets, lack of movement. In representatives of this Mewa alcohol destroys the protective energies especially quickly and opens the road to the provocations of malevolent spirits.

Если такой человек проживёт жизнь добродетельно, традиция обещает ему рождение в более высоких сферах или социальных кругах. Если он будет жить жизнью без духовности — он будет блуждать в мире голодных духов, где неутолимая жажда никогда не находит утоления. Если же он будет совершать неправедные поступки и вредить другим, то он вернётся в адские миры.

If such a person lives his life virtuously, the tradition promises him birth in higher spheres or social circles. If he lives a life without spirituality, he will wander in the world of hungry ghosts, where unquenchable thirst never finds relief. And if he commits unrighteous deeds and harms others, he will return to the hell realms.

В качестве метода коррекции им особенно полезна практика Ваджрапани — гневного держателя ваджры. Второе средство коррекции — регулярное подношение сур (сжигаемое подношение пищи) голодным духам и тем существам, по отношению к которым у них есть кармические долги: это то действие, которое быстрее всего облегчит их страдания.

As a method of correction, the practice of Vajrapani — the wrathful holder of the vajra — is especially useful for them. The second means of correction is the regular offering of sur (a burnt food offering) to hungry ghosts and to those beings towards whom they have karmic debts: this is the action that will most quickly ease their suffering.

Люди этого года рождения появились на свет из измерений Ненов, Нагов, Ракшасов и духов Сенмо — сил, связанных с землёй, водой и скрытыми целительными свойствами природы.

People born in this year came into the world from the dimensions of the Nyen, the Nagas, the Rakshasas and the Senmo spirits — forces connected with earth, water and the hidden healing properties of nature.

Отсюда и название: Зеркало Океана Лекарств.

Hence the name: the Mirror of the Ocean of Medicines.

Всё, что связано с водой, травами, минералами, телом и его восстановлением, даётся им легко и часто становится их призванием, даже если они никогда не собирались быть целителями.

Everything connected with water, herbs, minerals, the body and its restoration comes easily to them and often becomes their calling, even if they never intended to be healers.

При этом традиция отмечает две их слабости: они «умудрены во лжи» — то есть говорят убедительно и умеют обходить правду, когда это выгодно, — и имеют большое самомнение. Оба качества опаснее для них самих, чем для других: именно они перекрывают доступ к той целительной силе, которая им дана от рождения.

At the same time the tradition notes two weaknesses of theirs: they are “skilled in lying” — that is, they speak convincingly and know how to get around the truth when it is advantageous — and they have a high opinion of themselves. Both qualities are more dangerous for themselves than for others: it is precisely these that block access to the healing power given to them from birth.

Для них плохо находиться среди низких социальных кругов и в местах загрязнений.

It is bad for them to be among low social circles and in polluted places.

Если в прошлом рождении человек был в животной локе — то тогда у него могут сохраняться тяжёлое состояние ума, а также родинка, пучок волос или иная отметина на правом боку.

If in a past birth the person was in the animal realm, then he may retain a heavy state of mind, as well as a mole, a tuft of hair or another mark on the right side of the body.

Если они рождались голодными духами — то тогда в этой жизни они будут страдать от проблем с финансами (в таком случае и следует развивать щедрость), отсутствием счастливых семейных отношений (тогда необходимо укреплять энергию янг) или отсутствием потомства.

If they were born as hungry ghosts, then in this life they will suffer from problems with finances (in which case generosity should be developed), from the absence of happy family relationships (then it is necessary to strengthen the yang energy) or from the absence of offspring.

Число трудных периодов у этой Мева — три, и все они, как правило, связаны не с внешними обстоятельствами, а с последствиями сказанной неправды или принятия неверных решений.

The number of difficult periods for this Mewa is three, and all of them, as a rule, are connected not with external circumstances but with the consequences of untruth spoken or of wrong decisions taken.

В середине жизни им нужно обязательно выполнять ритуалы для её продления — практики долгой жизни, цетар и т.д.

In the middle of life they must without fail perform rituals for its prolongation — long-life practices, tsethar and so on.

В отношении здоровья им нужно оберегать всё водное в теле: почки, лимфу, суставную жидкость, кровь. Опасны сырость, застой, нехватка движения, а также подавленные, невысказанные чувства — именно они у представителей этой Мева превращаются в телесные симптомы. Часто у них возникают проблемы с репродуктивными органами.

As regards health, they need to protect everything watery in the body: the kidneys, the lymph, the joint fluid, the blood. Dampness, stagnation and lack of movement are dangerous, as are suppressed, unspoken feelings — in representatives of this Mewa it is precisely these that turn into bodily symptoms. Problems with the reproductive organs often arise.

Поскольку с ними связаны Нены и Наги, для них особенно значимы чистота воды, которую они пьют, и чистота земли, на которой они живут: испорченная вода и загрязнённый участок сказываются на них заметно быстрее, чем на других.

Since the Nyen and the Nagas are connected with them, the purity of the water they drink and of the land on which they live is especially significant: spoiled water and a polluted plot affect them noticeably faster than others.

Если такой человек будет усердствовать в добродетели, в будущей жизни он родится святым. Если нет — родится гусем, птицей, которая всю жизнь на воде, но ничего о ней не знает.

If such a person is diligent in virtue, in a future life he will be born a saint. If not, he will be born a goose — a bird that spends its whole life on the water yet knows nothing about it.

Метод коррекции для этой Мева — очищение. Практика Ваджрасаттвы, и особенно его стослоговая мантра могут очистить именно то, что мешает им больше всего: последствия неправды и высокомерия из прошлых рождений.

The method of correction for this Mewa is purification. The practice of Vajrasattva, and especially his hundred-syllable mantra, can purify precisely what hinders them most: the consequences of untruth and arrogance from past births.

Второе средство — подношения Нагам и Ненам, и бережное отношение к воде и земле. Хорошо им также жертвовать на лекарства и лечение других — это прямо усилит их собственное долголетие.

The second means is offerings to the Nagas and the Nyen, and a careful attitude towards water and earth. It is also good for them to donate towards medicines and the treatment of others — this directly strengthens their own longevity.

Это Мева самой тесной связи с Нагами: традиция говорит, что такой человек — сын Нагов или прямо пришёл из их мира. Наги — змееподобные охранители источников, озёр, подземных вод и скрытых богатств земли; они щедры к тем, кто их уважает, и болезненно чувствительны к грязи, шуму и небрежности.

This is the Mewa of the closest connection with the Nagas: the tradition says that such a person is a son of the Nagas or has come directly from their world. The Nagas are serpent-like protectors of springs, lakes, underground waters and the hidden riches of the earth; they are generous to those who respect them and painfully sensitive to dirt, noise and carelessness.

Внешние признаки этой Мева узнаваемы: мягкие волосы, тонкий, высокий голос, опрятность, доходящая до брезгливости. Сила ума у них большая, знания обширные, память цепкая — учиться им легко, и часто они знают больше, чем показывают. При этом слова у них жёсткие: говорят они ровным голосом вещи, которые запоминаются надолго, и не всегда понимают, насколько сильно ранят. Спиртное они, как правило, не любят сами — и это их защита, которую не стоит нарушать.

The outward signs of this Mewa are recognizable: soft hair, a thin, high voice, a tidiness bordering on squeamishness. Their strength of mind is great, their knowledge extensive, their memory tenacious — learning comes easily to them, and they often know more than they show. Their words, however, are harsh: in an even voice they say things that are remembered for a long time, and they do not always realize how deeply they wound. As a rule they dislike alcohol themselves — and this is their protection, which should not be violated.

Если в прошлой жизни такой человек был Нагом или животным, то в нынешнем рождении подтверждением этому служит родинка, пучок волос или иная отметина на правом плече, под мышкой или на шее. Отсюда в нём настороженность, тонкий слух к настроениям, потребность в тишине и в собственном нетронутом пространстве.

If in a past life such a person was a Naga or an animal, then confirmation of this in the present birth is a mole, a tuft of hair or another mark on the right shoulder, under the arm or on the neck. Hence his wariness, his fine ear for moods, his need for silence and for his own untouched space.

Главная уязвимость этой Мева — кожа, кровь, дыхание и нервы, то есть всё, что у Нагов страдает первым. Кожные высыпания, аллергии, астма, необъяснимый зуд, отёки, болезни крови и почек традиция прямо связывает с нарушением связи с Нагами: загрязнением воды и земли, строительством и копанием без соответствующих обрядов, вырубкой деревьев, выбрасыванием мусора и нечистот в воду. Для представителей этой Мева такие поступки — не абстрактная экология, а прямая причина болезни.

The main vulnerability of this Mewa is the skin, the blood, the breath and the nerves — that is, everything that suffers first in the Nagas. Skin rashes, allergies, asthma, unexplained itching, swellings, diseases of the blood and the kidneys are directly connected by the tradition with a disturbance of the connection with the Nagas: pollution of water and earth, building and digging without the corresponding rites, felling trees, throwing rubbish and waste into water. For representatives of this Mewa such acts are not abstract ecology but a direct cause of illness.

Особенно вредна для них рыбалка. Убийство рыб и тревожение водоёмов бьёт прямо по их связи с Нагами, и последствия такого занятия у людей этой Мева проявляются быстрее и тяжелее, чем у остальных — кожными и аллергическими обострениями, болезнями крови и полосами неудач. Им стоит отказаться от рыбалки полностью, а по возможности — выкупать и отпускать рыбу.

Fishing is especially harmful for them. Killing fish and disturbing bodies of water strikes directly at their connection with the Nagas, and the consequences of such an occupation appear in people of this Mewa faster and more severely than in others — as skin and allergic flare-ups, diseases of the blood and streaks of misfortune. They should give up fishing entirely and, where possible, buy fish and release them.

Хозяйство и дом у них лучше всего устраиваются там, где есть живая вода и деревья. Элемент Дерева даёт им рост, гибкость и способность восстанавливаться — но требует движения: застой, закрытые помещения и отсутствие воздуха гасят их быстрее, чем любые внешние трудности.

Their household and home are best arranged where there is living water and trees. The element of Wood gives them growth, flexibility and the ability to recover — but it requires movement: stagnation, closed rooms and lack of air extinguish them faster than any external difficulty.

Если такой человек отбросит негативности и будет практиковать добродетель, в следующем перерождении он родится могущественным йогином. Если нет — вновь Нагом или четвероногим животным, то есть останется в том же круге, откуда пришёл.

If such a person casts off negativities and practises virtue, in his next rebirth he will be born a powerful yogin. If not — again a Naga or a four-legged animal, that is, he will remain in the same circle from which he came.

Метод коррекции здесь очевиден и очень действенен: регулярные Пуджи Нагам — подношение молока, чистой воды и торма источникам, а также забота об окружающей среде, соблюдение чистоты в доме и на участке, отказ от загрязнения воды. Для защиты от гнева Нагов и для того, чтобы связь с ними оставалась благой, практикуют Ваджрапани — того, кто в традиции держит Нагов в узде и одновременно является их владыкой. Полезно создавать изображение Ваджрапани, высаживать деревья, очищать берега и родники.

The method of correction here is obvious and very effective: regular Naga Pujas — the offering of milk, clean water and torma to springs, as well as care for the environment, keeping cleanliness in the home and on one’s land, and the refusal to pollute water. For protection from the wrath of the Nagas, and so that the connection with them remains wholesome, one practises Vajrapani — the one who in the tradition holds the Nagas in check and is at the same time their lord. It is useful to create an image of Vajrapani, to plant trees, to clean riverbanks and springs.

Пятёрка связана с духами Гьялпо и охранителями местности, и в силу скверного характера первых — к ней очень негативное отношение в астрологии. Гьялпо часто вызывают конфликты и несчастные случаи, они усиливают негативные тенденции ума, связанные с недовольством, а также с политическим или религиозным фанатизмом.

The five is connected with the Gyalpo spirits and with the protectors of the locality, and because of the foul character of the former the attitude towards it in astrology is very negative. The Gyalpo often cause conflicts and accidents; they strengthen the negative tendencies of mind connected with discontent, and also with political or religious fanaticism.

Поэтому людям данной Мева категорически нельзя погружаться в политические или религиозные конфликты, даже если это просто чтение новостей или дискуссии с окружающими. Чувство недовольства, а также упущенных возможностей — открывает брешь для провокаций от духов Гьялпо, после чего могут последовать большие проблемы.

Therefore people of this Mewa must on no account immerse themselves in political or religious conflicts, even if this is merely reading the news or discussions with those around them. A feeling of discontent, and also of missed opportunities, opens a breach for provocations from the Gyalpo spirits, after which great problems may follow.

Также нужно внимательнее быть с поведением в местах религиозных сооружений, чтобы не потревожить Гьялпо, которые как правило их охраняют.

One should also be more attentive to one’s behaviour in places of religious buildings, so as not to disturb the Gyalpo, who as a rule guard them.

Для этой Мева традиция делает особое замечание: очень хорошо, если такой человек станет практикующим. Если он усерден в практике, его жизнь будет долгой — и наоборот: без внутренней дисциплины его сильная земляная природа тяжелеет, превращаясь в упрямство, застой и телесные болезни. Богатство у него преумножается «сухое» — зерно, утварь, инструменты, недвижимость, земля: то, что хранится и стоит, а не то, что дышит и убегает. Вложения в землю и дом для него благоприятнее спекулятивных дел.

For this Mewa the tradition makes a special remark: it is very good if such a person becomes a practitioner. If he is diligent in practice, his life will be long — and conversely: without inner discipline his strong earthy nature grows heavy, turning into stubbornness, stagnation and bodily illnesses. His wealth is multiplied as “dry” wealth — grain, utensils, tools, real estate, land: that which is stored and stands, rather than that which breathes and runs away. Investments in land and a house are more favourable for him than speculative affairs.

Если в прошлой жизни он был монахом или начальником — человеком устава и ответственности, — то в этом рождении подтверждением этому будет служить отметина на ступне или на макушке. Отсюда и его двойственность: он одновременно тянется к служению и к власти, и всю жизнь выбирает между ними.

If in a past life he was a monk or a chief — a man of regulations and responsibility — then in this birth confirmation of it will be a mark on the sole of the foot or on the crown of the head. Hence his duality: he is drawn at once to service and to power, and all his life he chooses between them.

Тяжёлых периодов в его жизни два, и оба, как правило, приходят через людей: через род и через тех, кем он руководит. There are two difficult periods in his life, and both, as a rule, come through people: through the family line and through those whom he leads. Since he is protected by the deities of the ancestors and the deities of the locality, the state of his fortune depends directly on two things — on his relations with his family line (especially with those who have passed away) and on how he treats the land where he lives. Abandoned graves of ancestors, a ruined family home, enmity with neighbours, rubbish and the defilement of the locality are a direct cause of the decline of his powers.

В отношении здоровья ему нужно оберегать желудок, пищеварение, селезёнку, мышцы и вес: избыток тяжёлой пищи, привычка «заедать» напряжение и малоподвижность бьют по нему первыми. Элемент Земли требует ритма и умеренности, а не рывков.

As regards health he needs to protect the stomach, the digestion, the spleen, the muscles and his weight: an excess of heavy food, the habit of “eating away” tension and a sedentary life strike him first. The element of Earth requires rhythm and moderation, not bursts of effort.

Если он будет следовать добродетелям, в следующей жизни родится в благородной семье. Если нет — переродится рыбой или змеёй, существом, живущим в немоте и холоде.

If he follows the virtues, in the next life he will be born into a noble family. If not, he will be reborn as a fish or a snake, a being living in muteness and cold.

Метод коррекции для этой Мева — практика Будды Шакьямуни и создание его изображения: именно она собирает его силу в центр и удерживает её. Второе средство — санг, подношение воскурения божествам местности (Юллха) и божествам предков, а также поминальные обряды и подношения за ушедших родственников. Полезны щедрость зерном и пищей, забота о родовом доме и земле, и регулярное чтение Сутры или мантры Шакьямуни в дни новолуния и полнолуния.

The method of correction for this Mewa is the practice of Buddha Shakyamuni and the creation of his image: it is precisely this that gathers his power into the centre and holds it there. The second means is sang, the offering of incense smoke to the deities of the locality (Yullha) and to the deities of the ancestors, as well as memorial rites and offerings for departed relatives. Generosity with grain and food, care for the family home and land, and the regular recitation of a Sutra or of the mantra of Shakyamuni on the days of the new and full moon are useful.

Мева власти и ответственности. Традиция говорит, что такой сын дан божествами Лха, духами Гонпо и Дралха — то есть силами защиты, войны и порядка. Отсюда врождённые качества руководителя: способность принимать решение за других и выдерживать последствия.

The Mewa of power and responsibility. The tradition says that such a son is given by the Lha deities, by the Gongpo spirits and by the Dralha — that is, by the forces of protection, war and order. Hence the innate qualities of a leader: the ability to take decisions for others and to bear the consequences.

Снаружи такой человек мягок, речь у него спокойная и обходительная, но внутри он груб и твёрд — и это расхождение чувствуют все, кто с ним работает. Знания у него большие, и главное — он умеет их применять: «своим умом руководит армией, этим и знаменит». Он прям и откровенен, не играет в интриги, и именно за это ему доверяют и воздают почести. Своего он не упустит никогда — ни в делах, ни в имуществе, ни в справедливости.

Outwardly such a person is soft, his speech calm and courteous, but inwardly he is rough and firm — and this discrepancy is felt by everyone who works with him. His knowledge is great and, most importantly, he knows how to apply it: “with his own mind he commands an army, and for this he is renowned”. He is direct and candid, does not play at intrigue, and it is precisely for this that he is trusted and honoured. He will never let go of what is his — neither in affairs, nor in property, nor in justice.

Если в прошлой жизни он мог быть священнослужителем или знатным человеком, то в нынешнем рождении подтверждением этому служит то, что он говорит правду и его за это уважают, а также линия родинок или отметин, идущая по телу по диагонали слева или справа, как след от монашеской накидки.

If in a past life he may have been a priest or a person of noble rank, then in the present birth confirmation of it is that he speaks the truth and is respected for it, as well as a line of moles or marks running diagonally across the body from the left or the right, like the trace of a monastic shawl.

Препятствий у этой Мева пять — больше, чем у большинства, и почти все они связаны с положением и людьми: зависть, подставы, ответственность за чужие ошибки, потеря поддержки в решающий момент. Причина у них одна и та же — ослабление Пхолха (мужского родового божества) и Дралха (божеств доблести и защиты). Эти силы уходят от человека при нарушении слова, при мелочной лжи, при пьянстве, при неуважении к старшим и к оружию, при ссорах в доме и при небрежности к родовым святыням. Признаком ослабления служат внезапная потеря авторитета, череда неудач в делах, ощущение «выключенности» и утрата вкуса к борьбе.

This Mewa has five obstacles — more than most — and almost all of them are connected with position and with people: envy, being set up, responsibility for the mistakes of others, the loss of support at the decisive moment. Their cause is one and the same — the weakening of Pholha (the male ancestral deity) and Dralha (the deities of valour and protection). These forces leave a person when he breaks his word, in petty lying, in drunkenness, in disrespect towards elders and towards weapons, in quarrels at home and in carelessness towards the family shrines. Signs of the weakening are a sudden loss of authority, a series of failures in affairs, a feeling of being “switched off” and the loss of the taste for struggle.

В отношении здоровья им следует оберегать лёгкие, дыхание, кожу, толстый кишечник и зубы — всё, что относится к элементу Металла, — а также давление и сердце: они склонны держать напряжение внутри и не выпускать его. Курение и алкоголь для них особенно вредны, поскольку прямо вредят Дралха.

As regards health they should protect the lungs, the breath, the skin, the large intestine and the teeth — everything belonging to the element of Metal — as well as the blood pressure and the heart: they tend to hold tension inside and not to let it out. Smoking and alcohol are especially harmful for them, since they directly harm the Dralha.

Если такой человек будет вести добродетельную жизнь, в следующей он станет святым праведником или землевладельцем — тем, кто держит землю и людей. Если нет — родится духом Гонпо, силой, которая вечно вмешивается в чужие дела и нигде не имеет покоя.

If such a person leads a virtuous life, in the next he will become a holy righteous one or a landowner — one who holds land and people. If not, he will be born a Gongpo spirit, a force that forever interferes in the affairs of others and has peace nowhere.

Метод коррекции — практика Намгьялмы (Ушнишавиджаи), одного из трёх божеств долголетия: она восстанавливает продолжительность жизни, снимает препятствия и очищает то, что накапливается у человека власти. Второе и обязательное средство — лха-санг и дралха-гуг: воскурение и призывание Пхолха и Дралха, поднятие флагов лунгта, содержание алтаря рода в чистоте, уважение к старшим и к слову. Полезно создавать изображение Намгьялмы, спасать жизни животных (Цетар) и держать безукоризненную честность в речи — для этой Мева правдивость есть прямая опора удачи.

The method of correction is the practice of Namgyalma (Ushnishavijaya), one of the three deities of longevity: it restores the span of life, removes obstacles and purifies what accumulates in a person of power. The second and obligatory means is lha-sang and dralha-guk: the incense offering and invocation of Pholha and Dralha, the raising of lungta flags, keeping the family altar clean, respect for elders and for one’s word. It is useful to create an image of Namgyalma, to save the lives of animals (Tsethar) and to keep impeccable honesty in speech — for this Mewa truthfulness is a direct support of fortune.

The most fiery and the most contradictory of the nine. The tradition calls such people sons of the ferocious Tsen spirits — mountain spirits dwelling on cliffs, passes and in places where blood was once spilled. The Tsen give their people sharpness, speed and fearlessness, but demand constant self-command in return.

Ум у них быстрый, внимание к деталям высокое, харизма и влияние на других людей сильные. Также это может проявляться в повышенной привлекательности для людей противоположного пола. При этом «сердце маленькое»: они легко вспыхивают, плохо прощают и долго держат обиду. Думают они много, иногда изматывая себя мыслями по кругу. Традиция говорит прямо и без смягчения: они любят убивать — охота, оружие, жёсткая конкуренция, а порой и настоящая опасность кровного убийства. Это самая важная точка их судьбы: всё, что они выигрывают силой, оплачивается их же здоровьем и удачей.

Their mind is quick, their attention to detail high, their charisma and influence over others strong. This may also manifest as a heightened attractiveness to people of the opposite sex. At the same time their “heart is small”: they flare up easily, forgive poorly and hold a grievance for a long time. They think a great deal, sometimes exhausting themselves with thoughts going round in circles. The tradition speaks directly and without softening: they love to kill — hunting, weapons, harsh competition, and at times a real danger of bloodshed. This is the most important point of their destiny: everything they win by force is paid for with their own health and fortune.

Если это мужчина — у него большое уважение и привязанность к женщинам, если женщина — то к мужчинам; отношения в их жизни ярки, многочисленны и редко спокойны. They love meat and strong drink, and both attachments quickly become addictions for them. If it is a man, he has great respect for and attachment to women; if a woman, then to men; relationships in their life are vivid, numerous and rarely peaceful. This is precisely why it is extremely important for them to avoid infidelity in their personal life, and jealousy as well: both of these, for this Mewa, turn into heavy consequences — the destruction of relationships, conflicts, and at times direct danger. Faithfulness and calm in relationships are for them not only a moral choice but a practical protection. On their body there may be, or may appear in time, multiple wounds, abscesses, ulcers, scars or birthmarks — this is a sign of the Tsen, and equally a signal that the protective energy has weakened.

Их счастье и страдания «подобны весеннему солнцу» — быстро сменяют друг друга; насыщение и голод — «подобны раздувающимся кузнечным мехам»: то изобилие, то пустота. Сглаживать эту амплитуду — их главная практическая задача; ровный распорядок дня для них важнее, чем для любой другой Мева.

Their happiness and their suffering are “like the spring sun” — they replace one another quickly; satiety and hunger are “like blacksmith’s bellows blowing”: now abundance, now emptiness. To smooth out this amplitude is their chief practical task; an even daily routine is more important for them than for any other Mewa.

Если в прошлой жизни такой человек был Асуром, полубогом — существом сильным, воинственным и завистливым, — то подтверждением этому в нынешнем рождении служит родинка или отметина на правом боку. Препятствий у этой Мева четыре — и почти все они приходят через конфликт, кровь, огонь и дорогу.

If in a past life such a person was an Asura, a demigod — a being strong, warlike and envious — then confirmation of this in the present birth is a mole or a mark on the right side of the body. The obstacles of this Mewa are four in number, and almost all of them come through conflict, blood, fire and the road.

В отношении здоровья им нужно оберегать сердце, давление, печень и кровь, а также кожу: избыток трипа (жёлчи) даёт у них воспаления, кожные нарывы, гнев и бессонницу. Острое, жареное, алкоголь, ночная жизнь и перегрев — прямой путь к обострению. Опасны для них также горы, скалы, перевалы и заброшенные места силы, особенно в одиночку и в нетрезвом виде: именно там Цен провоцируют сильнее всего.

As regards health, they need to protect the heart, the blood pressure, the liver and the blood, and also the skin: an excess of tripa (bile) gives them inflammations, skin abscesses, anger and insomnia. Spicy and fried food, alcohol, night life and overheating are a direct road to aggravation. Dangerous for them too are mountains, cliffs, passes and abandoned places of power, especially alone and in a state of intoxication: it is precisely there that the Tsen provoke most strongly.

При этом у этой Мева есть и обратная, обнадёживающая сторона: если человек сознательно ведёт здоровый образ жизни, значительная часть негативных влияний семёрки компенсируется, а срок жизни заметно увеличивается. Отказ от алкоголя и избытка мяса, ровный режим сна, умеренность в еде, физическая активность без надрыва, отказ от охоты, драк и опасных развлечений, работа с гневом и ревностью — всё это для семёрки не общая рекомендация, а прямой механизм: её препятствия почти всегда приходят через возбуждение — крови, жёлчи, гнева и страсти, — и всё, что успокаивает это возбуждение, буквально продлевает ей жизнь. Практикующий и умеренный представитель Мева 7 живёт долго и реализует ту силу, которую Цен дают своим людям, не оплачивая её здоровьем.

At the same time this Mewa has a reverse, hopeful side: if a person consciously leads a healthy way of life, a considerable part of the negative influences of the seven is compensated, and the span of life is noticeably lengthened. Giving up alcohol and an excess of meat, an even regime of sleep, moderation in food, physical activity without strain, renouncing hunting, fighting and dangerous amusements, working with anger and jealousy — all this is, for the seven, not a general recommendation but a direct mechanism: its obstacles almost always come through excitation — of the blood, the bile, of anger and passion — and everything that calms this excitation quite literally prolongs its life. A practising and moderate representative of Mewa 7 lives long and realizes the strength which the Tsen give their people, without paying for it with health.

Если такой человек усерден в добродетелях, в следующей жизни он будет достойным Ламой, священнослужителем. Если нет — Ценом или волком, то есть тем, кто всю жизнь охотится и всю жизнь настороже.

If such a person is diligent in virtue, in the next life he will be a worthy Lama, a priest. If not — a Tsen or a wolf, that is, one who hunts all his life and is on his guard all his life.

Метод коррекции — практика Зелёной Тары: она быстро снимает страх, гнев и внезапные препятствия, то есть работает именно с их природой. Второе средство — цен-санг, подношение воскурения горным духам, и, что не менее важно, сознательный отказ от убийства: выкуп и спасение жизни животных (Цетар), отказ от охоты и рыбалки, сокращение мяса и алкоголя. Для этой Мева спасение жизни — не благочестивый жест, а главное лекарство. Полезно создавать изображение Тары, зажигать масляные лампады и держать ровный ритм сна.

The method of correction is the practice of Green Tara: she swiftly removes fear, anger and sudden obstacles, that is, she works precisely with their nature. The second means is tsen-sang, the offering of incense to the mountain spirits, and — no less important — the conscious renunciation of killing: the ransoming and saving of the lives of animals (Tsethar), giving up hunting and fishing, reducing meat and alcohol. For this Mewa the saving of life is not a pious gesture but the chief medicine. It is useful to create an image of Tara, to light butter lamps and to keep an even rhythm of sleep.

Считается, что дети этой Мева дарованы радостными божествами неба Тушиты — обители Будды Майтреи. Это самое светлое из девяти рождений: такого ребёнка легко вскармливать и воспитывать, жизнь его складывается мягко, и в старости к нему приходит настоящее счастье. Традиция говорит о нём необычно тепло: он «становится одной из драгоценностей мира».

It is held that the children of this Mewa are granted by the joyful deities of the Tushita heaven — the abode of Buddha Maitreya. This is the brightest of the nine births: such a child is easy to nourish and to raise, his life unfolds gently, and in old age true happiness comes to him. The tradition speaks of him with unusual warmth: he “becomes one of the jewels of the world”.

Слова у него мягкие, характер сдержанный, внешность спокойная — но подлинная его сила внутри, и обнаруживается она не сразу. Знания у него большие, ум ясный. Главная бытовая слабость — медлительность: дела он откладывает на потом, и именно в этом, а не во внешних препятствиях, теряет возможности. Ему нравятся добродетельные и достойные люди, и он сам вызывает уважение почти у всех, кто с ним сталкивается; окружение для него — важнейший фактор судьбы, в дурной среде он тускнеет очень быстро.

His words are gentle, his character restrained, his appearance calm — but his genuine strength is within, and it is not revealed at once. His knowledge is great, his mind clear. His chief everyday weakness is slowness: he puts things off until later, and it is precisely in this, and not in external obstacles, that he loses opportunities. He likes virtuous and worthy people, and he himself commands respect from almost everyone who meets him; the environment is for him the most important factor of destiny — in bad surroundings he fades very quickly.

Подтверждением божественного происхождения служит то, что он опасается нечистот и робок в прелюбодеяниях, а также родинка или иная отметина на правом боку. Нравственная чистоплотность для него не воспитанное правило, а естественная черта — и её нарушение переживается им тяжелее, чем любая внешняя потеря.

Confirmation of his divine origin is that he is wary of impurity and timid in adultery, as well as a mole or another mark on the right side of the body. Moral cleanliness is for him not a rule instilled by upbringing but a natural trait — and its violation is experienced by him more heavily than any outward loss.

Оберегают его божества Лха и Гьялпо. Вторые требуют осторожности: Гьялпо — духи царственные, обитающие там, где собираются люди, охваченные сильной религиозной или политической идеей. Пока связь с ними благая, они дают положение и покровительство; при нарушении — приносят фанатичность, гордость, воспаление ума, конфликты и внезапные потери статуса. Поэтому представителям этой Мева не стоит уходить в идейные движения, споры и борьбу за влияние: там их сила оборачивается против них.

He is protected by the Lha deities and by the Gyalpo. The latter demand caution: the Gyalpo are royal spirits dwelling where people gripped by a strong religious or political idea gather. While the connection with them is wholesome, they give position and patronage; when it is broken they bring fanaticism, pride, inflammation of the mind, conflicts and sudden losses of status. Representatives of this Mewa should therefore not go off into ideological movements, disputes and struggles for influence: there their strength turns against them.

Препятствий у этой Мева три. Отдельное предупреждение традиция делает о здоровье: в зрелом возрасте у представителей этой Мева могут возникнуть большие проблемы со здоровьем, поэтому в течение всей жизни очень важно вести здоровый образ жизни и выполнять практики долгой жизни. Не менее опасно и промедление: отложенное лечение, отложенные решения и отложенные разговоры вредят им сильнее любых внешних препятствий.

The obstacles of this Mewa are three. The tradition makes a separate warning about health: in mature years representatives of this Mewa may develop great health problems, and therefore throughout life it is very important to lead a healthy way of life and to perform the practices of long life. No less dangerous is delay: postponed treatment, postponed decisions and postponed conversations harm them more strongly than any external obstacle.

В отношении здоровья им следует оберегать лёгкие и дыхание, кожу, толстый кишечник, а также подвижность суставов; из-за медлительности и малой активности у них легко возникают застой, лишний вес и ослабление пищеварения. Важна регулярность: тело этой Мева отвечает не на усилие, а на постоянство.

As regards health, they should protect the lungs and the breathing, the skin, the large intestine, and also the mobility of the joints; because of slowness and little activity, stagnation, excess weight and a weakening of digestion easily arise in them. Regularity is what matters: the body of this Mewa responds not to effort but to constancy.

Если такой человек будет вести добродетельную жизнь, в будущем он обретёт тело божества. Если нет — родится водной птицей, то есть вернётся к более простой и зависимой форме существования.

If such a person leads a virtuous life, in the future he will obtain the body of a deity. If not — he will be born a water bird, that is, he will return to a simpler and more dependent form of existence.

Метод коррекции — практика Будды Шакьямуни и создание его изображения; ей же традиция приписывает у этой Мева наибольшую силу устранять препятствия. Второе средство — гьялпо-кангсо и юллха-санг: обряды примирения с царственными духами и подношение воскурения божествам местности и страны. Очень полезны для них соблюдение обетов и чистоты, поднесение лампад и цветов в святых местах, помощь монашеству и — вопреки склонности откладывать — доведение начатого до конца.

The method of correction is the practice of Buddha Shakyamuni and the creation of his image; it is to this that the tradition ascribes the greatest power to remove the obstacles of this Mewa. The second means is gyalpo-kangso and yullha-sang: the rites of reconciliation with the royal spirits and the offering of incense to the deities of the locality and of the country. Very useful for them are the keeping of vows and of purity, the offering of lamps and flowers in holy places, help to the monastic community and — contrary to their tendency to postpone — bringing what has been begun to completion.

Люди этой Мева переродились из мира богов; традиция называет их сыновьями божеств благополучия. Им дана врождённая способность притягивать достаток: деньги, вещи и возможности приходят к ним легче, чем к другим, и своего они не упускают никогда.

People of this Mewa were reborn from the world of gods; the tradition calls them sons of the deities of well-being. They are given an innate ability to attract prosperity: money, things and opportunities come to them more easily than to others, and they never let go of what is theirs.

Обратная сторона этого дара названа в текстах прямо: жадность, зависть и ревность. Есть и другая опасность: когда им всё дано с рождения — если они родились в благополучной семье, — они очень легко могут потерять это благополучие из-за своих собственных ошибок. Лёгкость получения здесь оборачивается лёгкостью утраты, и удерживает достаток не наследство, а собственные разумные поступки.

The reverse side of this gift is named in the texts directly: greed, envy and jealousy. There is another danger too: when everything is given to them from birth — if they were born into a prosperous family — they may very easily lose that prosperity through their own mistakes. Here the ease of acquiring turns into the ease of losing, and what holds wealth is not inheritance but one’s own reasonable conduct.

Эмоционально они чувствительны и при этом обращены наружу — им нужны люди, внимание, обмен; в одиночестве и безвестности они быстро гаснут. Они болезненно переживают чужой успех, трудно отпускают то, что считают своим, и склонны к собственничеству в отношениях.

Emotionally they are sensitive and at the same time turned outwards — they need people, attention, exchange; in solitude and obscurity they quickly go out. They take another’s success painfully, find it hard to let go of what they consider theirs, and are inclined to possessiveness in relationships.

Важнейшая особенность этой Мева — перелом в середине жизни: в первой половине богатства много, во второй — мало. Это не рок, а следствие механики янг (энергии благополучия): то, что накоплено цепко и без щедрости, перестаёт держаться. Именно поэтому для девятки щедрость — это способ сохранить достаток в этой жизни. Все традиционные средства коррекции для них строятся вокруг двух действий: призывания янг и благотворительности.

The most important feature of this Mewa is a turning point in the middle of life: in the first half there is much wealth, in the second — little. This is not fate but a consequence of the mechanics of yang (the energy of well-being): what has been accumulated tenaciously and without generosity ceases to hold. This is precisely why, for the nine, generosity is the way to preserve prosperity in this life. All the traditional means of correction for them are built around two actions: the calling in of yang and charity.

Если в прошлой жизни такой человек был сторожевым псом у богатого хозяина, то в нынешнем рождении на шее у него есть родинка. Отсюда его верность, настороженность и болезненное отношение к границам своего: он охраняет — дом, семью, дело, имущество — и от этого устаёт сильнее, чем признаёт.

If in a past life such a person was a watchdog of a wealthy master, then in the present birth he has a mole on the neck. Hence his loyalty, his watchfulness and his painful attitude to the borders of what is his: he guards — the home, the family, the business, the property — and from this he grows more tired than he admits.

Оберегают его Цены и Менмо — духи горные и женские, красивые и обидчивые. Менмо требуют чистоты и уважения к воде, деревьям и женщинам; их обида проявляется в кожных болезнях, внезапных ссорах, разрушении отношений и утечке денег. Препятствий у этой Мева пять, и чаще всего они приходят через имущество, наследство, партнёрство и ревность.

He is protected by the Tsen and the Menmo — mountain spirits and female spirits, beautiful and easily offended. The Menmo demand cleanliness and respect towards water, trees and women; their offence manifests in skin diseases, sudden quarrels, the destruction of relationships and the leaking away of money. The obstacles of this Mewa are five, and most often they come through property, inheritance, partnership and jealousy.

В отношении здоровья им нужно оберегать сердце и сосуды, давление, глаза, а также нервы: избыток жёлчи и постоянное сравнение себя с другими дают воспаления, бессонницу и сердечные симптомы. Полезны воздержанность в еде, отказ от алкоголя и обязательное присутствие в жизни бескорыстного дела — без него их огонь начинает жечь самих себя.

As regards health, they need to protect the heart and the vessels, the blood pressure, the eyes, and also the nerves: an excess of bile and the constant comparing of oneself with others give inflammations, insomnia and cardiac symptoms. Moderation in food is useful, as is giving up alcohol and the obligatory presence in life of some selfless work — without it their fire begins to burn themselves.

Если карма будет полностью добродетельной, в следующей жизни они переродятся богатым и влиятельным человеком. Если нет — примут тело животного.

If their karma is entirely virtuous, in the next life they will be reborn a wealthy and influential person. If not — they will take the body of an animal.

Второе средство — янг-гуг, обряд призывания и восстановления энергии благополучия, вместе с подношениями Цен и Менмо и практикой божеств богатства (Дзамбала, Вайшравана). И третье, обязательное: регулярная благотворительность — подношение пищи, помощь нуждающимся, поддержка практикующих. Для этой Мева верно простое правило: сколько отдано, столько и удержано.

The method of correction is the practice of Manjushri, the buddha of wisdom: it cuts through precisely what hinders the nine — tenacity, envy and the darkening of the mind in matters of property. The second means is yang-guk, the rite of calling in and restoring the energy of well-being, together with offerings to the Tsen and the Menmo and the practice of the deities of wealth (Dzambhala, Vaishravana). And the third, which is obligatory: regular charity — the offering of food, help to those in need, support of practitioners. For this Mewa a simple rule holds true: as much as is given away, so much is kept.
